Training Your Dog Has Never Been This Simple Before

When it's time to introduce house training to your dog, put him on a consistent schedule of eating and elimination. This makes it clear to your dog that he has to go outside and poop now, instead of stinking up your carpet. Having a set schedule will teach your dog how to wait until he can go outside for the next potty break.

If there are certain things that set your dog off causing bad behavior, then keep his mind focused on other things as you pass by what provokes this bad behavior. As an example, if your dog doesn't like to be around other dogs, then you need to keep him busy with his attention focused on you when you approach other dogs while on a walk. You will see that your dog will have a better relationship with other dogs if you do this.

Continuously maintain all training that you have done with your dog, and consider adding new behaviors as you go. Do not assume that your dog will remember his training all his life. That's not a good idea, since animals and humans form and retain habits in a similar way. This shows that you need to do periodic refreshers so that your dog continues to follow the rules.

Accidents will happen sometimes when you house train your pet. Clean accidents right away to speed up training. The odors from these accidents will remain in the carpeting, which will attract your pet back to this same spot to use again and again for elimination purposes. There are many products on the market that can help with this, so check with your local pet shop.

A dog needs a healthy diet as much as a dog owner does. Too many table scraps can unbalance your dog's diet. Without proper nutrition, your dog can suffer both physically and behaviorally. Improving your dog's diet can make training him easier.

Training your dog takes time and patience: if you cannot commit, do not start a training session. If you cannot focus on remaining patient when training your dog, it will quickly lose interest in what you are trying to teach.

Do not be afraid to ask a professional to work with your dog. Dog training may not go as you had planned and this is when you need to consider seeking a professional. Your trainer will pinpoint the problem areas and point you in the right direction.

Keep the dog outside when you leave to prevent him from chewing on household items. If you don't have a safe place for your puppy outside, consider closing him in a room that doesn't have tempting things for him to get into.

You will find dogs are simply dogs. Allow for activities that let him be himself and have fun. There should always be good outlets available for your dog to exercise and keep busy, and do not forget the right diet to provide this energy.

Crate training your new puppy is most effective when you take small steps. Once your puppy feels comfortable in the open crate, close the door and offer the dog a treat. Start with short times numbering in mere seconds, and increase the intervals gradually. If the dog becomes agitated, slow down a little more to make them more comfortable.

Being well trained makes for happy dogs, and happy dog owners as well. Using the ideas presented here, you have what you need to start today with training your dog.
