Even though there are more popular methods of promotion, podcasting still holds its own quite easily. The usual route for most marketers is to bypass audio (podcasting) and go straight into video. Here's a little secret for you, there are millions who listen to podcasts, still. Why is this true? As you know, the only requirement is an MP3 player, so it's no problem at all to pass your podcasts around. Don't beat around the bush. Don't be boring, provide value, and don't worry that it has to be a certain length. This means that you do not have to talk for the sake of talking. On the question of original and unique content, you should always do that. Of course that does not necessarily mean you cannot make references to other people and what they say, or do. It simply means that, if you do decide to talk about someone else's work, you give the original author credit.

The best way to use someone else's material is in support of your own argument. Try to avoid using other people's work too much, or too much in one podcast, because that can take away from how your listeners perceive you.

Podcasting is still a terrific method for publishing content to your target market. It will probably depend on the real value of your content, but some people charge for podcast access and many others do not.

Whatever you decide to do, having a quality podcast is a great avenue for promoting your own work or affiliate products. Once you get to the point where your listeners trust you, then you can accomplish a lot with them and yourself. It is a win-win situation.
