Gardening tools can help make your favorite hobby even more enjoyable. When you have the right tools at hand even the hardest jobs seem easy. Just because they are helpful is no reason to run out and drop your whole paycheck on them-especially if you haven't gardened before. There are specific tools that every gardener should have. As you get better at gardening you will learn that there are other tools out there that can help you with your projects. Start out with a few well known "staples" in your toolbox and then buy more tools as you find that you need them. These are just a few of the tools you should buy right out of the gate with your first gardening project.

If you want a giant garden you need to be ready to do some soil tilling. This means that you need to stir the soil so that air can move through it freely and easily. Many gardeners need help with this so they hire someone to do the job for them. Others will rent a roto tiller. You might consider buying your own tiller if you plan on working with large patches of land often. Using a tiller is something that you should learn to do properly before you attempt to do the work yourself. You could make a huge mess of things if you don't know what you are doing.

Pitchforks can be an incredibly useful tool for gardeners-even gardeners who are planting small gardens. Pitchforks will do the same things that trowels and spades do but they do it bigger. Pitchforks are great earth turners, compost movers and soil aerators. As compost breaks down it will need to be turned-this is something that only a pitchfork can do easily and quickly. If you don't turn the pile regularly it just hardens and becomes useless.

A wovel is essential. You can purchase a long handled or short handled wovel. A wovel is a shovel with a rounded point. A short handled wovel will help your balance while a long handled wovel does not do this.

The wovel's main purpose is to dig holes. Gardeners use wovels to help them move plants from one location to another without having to stress out about the root systems or root bulbs of the plants. You can also use your wovel to press down the earth when you plant your seedlings or move your plants from place to place. Gardening can be a great hobby or a great job! The more you learn about gardening the more you will want to purchase the tools being sold at your local plant store or gardening department. Before you drop a bunch of money on a tools that you might not need, start with a few basic necessities. As you get more experience with gardening you will figure out which gardening tools you need and which are only luxuries.
