Being sick is no fun. Getting a day off from work is nice once in a while, but if it takes getting sick for it to happen, that is not much fun.
The weather changes every year, and it always gets colder and damper, and sickness is just there, whether we want it or not. Feeling better all the time would be nice, but getting the flu or a cold is inevitable, so find ways to feel better when they come. Thankfully you can keep your cold or flu from getting worse, but you must do a few things. Most things for preventing diseases, such as the flu or a cold, are mainly common sense.
A measure for flu prevention is getting a shot. Flu shots are affordable and can be found pretty much anywhere, which is totally different from it used to be, when they were scarce and expensive. A cold, a virus or the flu can still infect your body, even though you get a flu shot, and you should remember this. There are only a few of the many variations, that it is not able to protect you from. Fighting off germs that make you sick is what the immune system does and the flu shot strengthens the immune system. Most places offer the shot for around twenty dollars. If you could get through the flu and cold season without catching one, wouldn't that be worth twenty dollars?
Going to the doctor should be a regular occurrence. Only by going, will you know how healthy you are. Try keeping it more often. You could see a doctor, for your family's sake, if you won't do it for yourself. Some people feel better going twice a year, the way they do with the dentist.
Getting regular checkups from your doctor will help you take care of any problems as they come up. The flu and colds will never get the best of you, as long as you have been keeping your immune system functioning properly.
You should use paper towels, often. Any time you use cloth towels and wash cloths and leave them out for very long without cleaning they breed germs. Even if you try to rinse them off, germs can stay alive for hours on these surfaces. Dry your hands, after washing them, with paper towels, and clean your surfaces with them, also. This way you can literally throw away any germs that might be trying to hang out and make you sick. The idea of the paper towel is to get rid of the germs, not to pile them up in a trash can and let them fester for days, so take them to the outside garbage, quite often. The common cold cannot be cured and that is the truth. Active steps can be taken, before you get the flu or a cold, that will prevent them from happening. Measures of prevention are practically all that flu and cold treatment is made up of. Some of the preventative measures might not be much fun, but still much easier than dealing with being sick with the flu or a cold.
