Tips and Info For Moms and Dads Who Want To Become Pregnant With A Girl.

While all babies are a blessing, often moms and dads want to have a girl This might be for a number of reasons: they might want to have at least one child of each gender, they may wish to avoid passing on a genetic condition or they may just want a little girl But while some moms and dads get the blend of daughters or sons that they want, some dads and moms simply have to stop trying for a daughter because few of us have the time and resources needed to keep on having children indefinitely in the hope that we will eventually get the mix right.

However, many fertility experts believe that you can better the likelihood of conceiving a daughter by following some simple, low-cost, non-invasive processes. These include eating a particular diet, carefully scheduling when you try to get pregnant and the sexual positions that are used when they do try. By following these steps, dads and moms can greatly increase their odds of having a baby girl.

The Shettles Method
Much of the information in this article is based on the research of Dr Landrum B. Shettles, one of the true pioneers of medically assisted reproduction. His theories on the subject of sex selection are known as the ‘Shettles Method’. Dr Shettle’s research has formed the foundation upon which many other writers and scientists have built to explain how it is possible for moms and dads to greatly better the odds of selecting a child’s sex.

Dr Shettles work was based on his observations that male and female sperm have specific differences. Put simply, male sperm are quicker but more fragile than female sperm. By recognizing these differences, Shettles realized that it was possible to determine the sex of a child at conception, allowing parents to choose whether they would have a boy or a girl.

Diet
The environment within a woman’s body alters as she goes through her monthly cycle, with the level of acidity or pH balance rising and falling over time. The higher the acidity, the less hospitable her body is to male sperm, who cope less well with higher acidity than female sperm. Diet can be used to influence pH levels, so if a woman wants to get pregnant with a daughter, she should consume foods which will boost the pH levels within her body. These include leafy green vegetables, fish, broccoli, grapefruit, oranges, apples, lemons and dairy products. A diet relatively high in magnesium and calcium and relatively low in sodium and potassium is also recommended.

Timing
Given the way in which the acidity balance in a woman’s body changes over the course of her cycle, the when sexual intercourse occurs in relation to when a woman ovulates might also have a bearing on a baby’s sex. Using the Shettles Method, if a woman wishes to get pregnant with a baby girl, she should have sexual intercourse 2-4 days before ovulation and then abstain from gender for 2-3 days after the time of ovulation.

As the sperm have to wait for the egg to arrive, the male sperm are more likely to perish than the female sperm, increasing the probability that a female sperm will reach the egg first. Another important factor is that prior to ovulation, the environment in the vagina has a higher ph level which makes it a tougher environment for the relatively less tough male sperm to survive in.

Sexual Positions
The sexual positions used when attempting get pregnant are also believed to be contributing factors to whether or not you become pregnant with a baby girl or a baby boy. Shettles observed that because male sperm are quicker than female sperm, under the right conditions they are believed to have a better chance of reaching the egg first. To even things up, Shettles recommended that if you want to have a girl you should use sexual positions which result in shallow penetration. This increases the distance that the sperm have to travel. If the environment is has a relatively high acid level, the tougher female sperm will have a higher chance of surviving over the greater distance as they are better able to tolerate the elevated acidity than the male sperm.
