Caring for your new baby's skin can seem overwhelming when you are a new parent. As a new parent it is easy to become overwhelmed with trying to be perfect. Baby skin care is often little more than common sense which should be good news. You don't need any fancy products to keep your baby's skin clean and clear. The fact is that you don't need to buy a large number of products to keep your baby's skin clean and clear. If you want to learn how to develop a skin care routine for your new baby, keep reading!

A baby's skin is sensitive, so precautions must be made to protect against rashes and other skin conditions. There is no need to lose control when you see a rash develop, usually its something minor. Treating these types of ailments is something that can be done at home with the correct methods. By attending to any type of issue with the skin as soon as possible, you will greatly reduce any blemishing or skin damage that would have results otherwise.

Test the baby's bath water before you set him in it. Baby skin is easily burned by warm water! Believe it or not it isn't until a lot later in our lives that we start to enjoy baths and showers that use hot water. Your elbow is the best tool to use for testing bathwater. Your elbow has very sensitive skin so if the water is too hot or cold for your elbow you need to adjust the temperature of the water. Your baby's bath water should, at most, be lukewarm.

When you use lukewarm water you don't have to worry about accidentally bathing your baby in water that is too hot or too cold.

Acne is a skin problem that many people don't know can inflict their baby. The acne happens because the baby gets exposed to Mom's hormones while he is still in the womb. These hormones trigger some baby's skin to become oily and the result is clogged pores which lead to acne. Do not treat your baby's acne with adult solutions! This can lead to endangering your child's health. Instead keep the baby's face clean through regular bathing and the acne will clear up on its own in a few weeks.

There are all sorts of ways to practice proper baby skin care. You need to remember that practicing proper baby skin care involves more than a plain bath. Proper baby skin care involves things like finding the right laundry soap, using the best sunscreen and letting the baby spend some time naked every day. Don't worry too much--eventually protecting and caring for your baby's skin will be second nature. Before you know it, it will be a habit!
