Once you get the flu or a cold, you can deal with it by doing many different things. Even though you won't find any cures, you can make yourself feel better. Not letting a cold of the flu get started in the first place makes a better solution. The best way for you to remain healthy all year-long is by taking certain measures for prevention, and during the cold and flu season, it is even more important. Don't get sick and keep yourself healthy by doing some of these things.
Once you blow your nose, immediately throw away your tissue paper. A common cold continues to be transmitted because tissue paper is not disposed of. Someone uses a tissue, puts it down on a table or countertop, someone else throws away the tissue and someone else touches a book that was on the same table. Two people now have received germs from a third person's tissue. As soon as you use a tissue, immediately throw it into your trash can which has a liner in it. You should drop your tissue into the garbage can after walking out to it, if you are not sick. You may not have any symptoms, or look like you are sick, but spreading germs is still possible.
Clean up all of your household surfaces clean. Any number of wipes that are disposable can be purchased for cleaning all of the surfaces in the household, and sanitizing them, also. There are things that get touched regularly, which should be wiped down and sanitized, and some of these are countertops, door knobs and faucets. Soap and water can be used to clean all of these surfaces, but they would be sanitized better with a disinfecting solution. Any way of eliminating germs, increases your chances of not getting any type of sickness. Anytime your immune system becomes compromised by being around sick people, which happens a lot during flu and cold season, sanitizing your house is a good idea.
To improve your health, stop smoking. There is no good time to smoke, but it is even worse when flu and cold season shows up. If you want to irritate your breathing passageways, then take a puff on a cigarette. You will have a better chance of catching a cold or getting the flu, because the germs will nestle into your irritated passageways. This will give you a greater chance of becoming sick with a cold or the flu. Even secondhand smoke will cause irritations to make you get sick, so it is advisable to stay away from people who are smoking. The flu and colds have no cure, so they still must be dealt with every season. Sometimes the best you can do after getting the flu, is to make yourself as comfortable as you can. Prevention is always the best way of dealing with any type of disease. During flu and cold season, it is difficult to stay healthy, but it is easier when preventive measures are practiced.
