Which Baby Monitor Should You Buy?

You are a parent looking to buy a baby monitor, but it turned out to not be as not as easy as it looks! These days, choosing a baby monitor can actually be quite difficult, and because of our technological advances, we no longer have just a few models to choose from. More specifically, there are many varieties, which can be wired into your home, or plugged into outlets, and even some which will offer you full video and audio surveillance! But, before you run out and grab the first item off the shelf you can find, use these tips to help assess what kind of baby monitor you need.

How large should the monitor be? Some parents want something small and non obtrusive. Some monitors can be non obtrusive and rather small, while others may be larger, but that also depends on what you need as well, and the more space you have, the more options are available to you when it comes to the size of the monitor. Portable monitors may have to be carried around, and can easily be left on the counter somewhere or in another room and forgotten about, so you should also consider how you will be using the monitor in the first place. These are all questions to ask yourself when it is time to buy. Also, if you are only going to be using the monitor in one room, you should take note that a larger monitor is welcome, but if you will be moving your baby around different rooms frequently, then a more lightweight and portable model would be suitable.

Assessing how much you want to be able to hear, see or know when you are not in the same room as your baby is also important. There are baby monitors that keep track of sounds, and there are systems that alert you when there is movement in the room. Other systems come equipped with video recording capabilities that also include audio- much like the video surveillance systems you could find in a department store. But when making your decision, you really only need to ask yourself how much you actually want to be able to monitor when you are not in the room. Keep in mind that if you choose not to purchase that expensive "all inclusive" baby monitoring system, it does not make you a bad parent, but just means that you are simply choosing the system which you think is best for you and your family to monitor your baby.

How many features are you looking for? If you don't have that much space, you may not be able to get more extensive systems, and if you live in a small home a single receiver or base station might be better. In larger homes or homes in which lots of people are around to help, having multiple receivers might be a good idea. Also, you should remember that if you are going to choose a multiple receiver system, the best ones are the ones which have both outbound and inbound communication abilities. Also, if you choose to go with more than one receiver, you will always know what is going on no matter where you are, and you won't always have to be carrying a receiver around with you.

Taking the time to consider the size, functions, and toher aspects of your system will ensure that you end up finding the right system for you and your family. Since your child is the most important factor in your life right now, you will also want to consider the lifetime expectancy and warranty of the system, that way you know it will work for the period you need it to. The type of monitor you need will depend on you and the needs of your whole family, so it's best to figure out what you want your monitor to do and then go out and find something that will do it!
