Making sure your child's skin stays clean and healthy takes more than simply bathing and applying lotion once a day. You need to take steps to ensure that every cell of your kid's skin is clean and healthy. This means taking special care of baby's laundry and sun exposure and properly treating any skin conditions that develop. Remember, your baby's skin is far more sensitive than the skin you have as an adult. Your baby needs you to help him make sure that skin conditions don't take hold anywhere on his body. You will be happy to learn that there is not a lot to keeping your baby's skin clean. The fact is that it doesn't take much time at all to put together a good routine. Here are some hints and tricks to assist you.

Did you know that you don't need to bathe newborns and very young infants every single day? For the most part newborns and very young infants stay pretty clean. Babies aren't mobile right away so they don't get very dirty. Their immobility makes it hard for them to get into things that a parent couldn't easily keep them out of. While your baby is still considered a "newborn" he or she only needs to be given a bath twice a week or so (as long as you keep his or her face free of dirt). Once they become mobile, however, daily baths are important. Your baby's skin needs plenty of fresh air. You can reduce the number of rashes that your baby will experience by changing any used diapers immediately and avoiding putting your baby in tight clothing whenever possible. A baby's skin that gets a chance to breathe from time to time will avoid most of these minor ailments. Letting your baby occasionally go naked will increase skin health and decrease rashes. This method will produce excellent results so don't just write it off. Of course, it is not always appropriate to let your baby get naked, for instance, it may be to cold and that can lead to serious complications that can be harmful.

Newsflash, your baby is can also develop acne. The cause of the acne stems back to the pregnancy when the hormones of the mother is setting the stage for later acne production. It's really simple, some babies will produce more oil in their skin which in turn will clog their pores. Never use adult acne treatments on a baby! This can lead to endangering your child's health. The treatment for this is to stick to a normal bathing routine and the acne can be expected to fade away once the clogs diminished and the healing process begins.

There are plenty of ways to properly care for your baby's skin. You need to remember that practicing proper baby skin care involves more than a plain bath. Making sure that you use the correct laundry detergent, using sunscreen and letting your baby get some "naked time" every day are all important parts of proper baby skin care. Caring for and protecting your baby's skin should be second nature before too long. It really will feel like a habit before too long!
