A lot of marketers have a mistaken perspective about podcasting. Maybe some think it's just for hobbyists, or even radio shows, etc. Podcasting is a great way to have your own radio-like program that you can send out to whoever you want, however you want. Also, if you really wanted to go all out, it's possible to charge for it. But really, most people don't charge to listen to them. As you develop your listening audience, then you can work your marketing message into the mix. We'll cover how to make podcasts for your business and get them out there on the net.

Prior to doing any recording, you'll find the best results will be obtained by creating an organized plan. But don't stress over it, you can create a great podcast without making your plan or script 100% comprehensive to the last detail. It doesn't need to be a professional plan or blueprint, just a guideline to organize your presentation.

Perhaps the best approach is to write down all the topics you want to cover, but don't make the podcast too long, and decide how much time you'll spend on each topic. Some podcasters do better when they can improvise but having a basic outline helps you. It helps you stay on topic. Also keep in mind that it's important to work within a reasonable amount of time.

In time, you'll see the value of maintaining good records for your podcasting content. Keeping records of the topics you've talked about in previous podcasts will keep you from repeating yourself too often. Plus all your old content can jar the brain and give you ideas for future podcasts.

Also there's nothing stopping you from doing an "updated" podcast if the content supports it. Records are also a great way to keep track of your past marketing campaigns. There could come a time, and you never know, when it will be important to find something you said in a previous podcast.

Make sure that the quality of your podcast is consistent. Maintain a strong sense of production values, and make sure they stay consistent. Just never publish a podcast that is poor quality because it's not worth it. It is also important that you keep the same style and set up. If you love variation in life, then it's best to announce that to your listeners so they know what to expect from you. Since people prefer habits, they may prefer a podcaster who is more consistent - so keep that in mind. Podcasting allows you to establish yourself, drive traffic, build a list, and more. The more ways people have to listen to you and take in your opinions the better off you will be. If you cultivate it, then you can develop a following of loyal listeners which can become profitable. When you get to the point where people trust you, then you can market to them very effectively and profitably.
