WHAT IS ASSISTED LIVING
People who need independence, with some of their daily activities, such as bathing, dressing and some other daily life activities prefer assisted living. Residents get independence as they want and are also provided with support services and personal care if they want. Home like atmosphere is provided by these communities. In general we can say that it provides help to those senior peoples who need help to perform their daily life activities. It includes activities such as bathing, dressing, toileting, diapering, medicating and personal care services such as meals, housekeeping and transportation.
EVOLUTION OF ASSISTED LIVING

During September 11-17, 2011 it was declared as the National Assisted Living Week. Data from 2010 states was collected and it has been stated that there are approximately 6,315 professionally managed residential care communities wide around nation consisting approximately 475,500 apartments. Very soon communities will be utilizing their technologies solutions to monitoring residents and communicate with medical providers. Some communities will cater to 'environmentalism' in order to promote their renewable and sustainable building products and living environment.
PEOPLE WHO NEED ASSISTED LIVING CARE
All resident do not demand residential care. When there is a slight decline in health, people need help to do one or more activities which they perform in daily living. Many of them prefer it because they want to live simply without facing any problem related to home maintainance. Due to need of some major help such as taking medications or a secure environment they also may have chosen assisted living as compared to independent retirement community. People might get this facility from other sources but there comes a time when they might need the more intensive care available only within the residential care facility.
HOW TO SELECT A PROPER RESIDENTIAL CARE FOR YOUR FAMILY

These are just a few tips that one should keep in his mind while choosing an assisted living home for their loved ones. The main thing is the environment which should just make you feel as if you are at your home instead of being at a hospital. Employees working there must also be observed with a very keen observation whether they are doing their job properly or not, and are they careful? Or absent minded because your parents or grandparents are going to be cared by them and it will be good only if they treat them as their own parents or grandparents. One main aspect of your observations should be towards the residents who are residing there whether they are looking happy or not. If they are seen sitting just in their rooms then it is truly a bad sign. But if you see many people interacting with each other than it is a good sign which shows that the atmosphere being provided to them is good.
