Boule games are outdoor games whose popularity has mainly grown in Europe over the years. Boule games have been around for a long time and this is one of their appeals. The games are now also widely played in Italy and England where they are considered garden games because they are mostly played in backyards. Boule sets as a result have become opportunities for families and friends to bond, have fun and get to know each other.

The game is played using metal balls as mentioned, and the purpose of the game is to get these balls as close to the ‘jack’ as possible. The player starts playing by standing with both feet on a circle and aims to throw the boule sets to a smaller wooden ball which is the jack. The game can be played by two or more people who are in different teams. The team will normally consist of a minimum of one individual and a maximum of three. Each person is given a set of three balls or boule sets. This game is mostly played for leisure. It can also be played as a competition. If played competitively then the boule sets have to be specific in size and contain the manufacturer’s name engraved upon them. They are normally made of sand or lead. They are designed to bear a specific weight.

The first team to score thirteen points wins the game. The game can also end when the teams run out of boule sets or when the jack has been knocked out of play. In case the jack is knocked out of play and one of the teams still has boule sets, they are given a point for each boule they have.

The most common ground that people like playing on is gravel. The game can also be played on grass. Most people now play boules as a way of relaxing in their backyards. With time, the games are gaining popularity in London as garden games. There are specially designed boule games for playing with your family on a weekend or during a vacation. The rules are easy to follow, and the games have been created to suit playing in your backyard or front of your house with friends and family.
